A 25-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old Pearland girl with Down Syndrome was arrested in Alvin Thursday (Aug. 27).

According to Brazoria County investigators, Jesus Atrian was tracked to a residence located in the 5000 block of County Road 397 after an anonymous tipster called to offer information. Officers were quickly dispatched to the home where the suspect was reportedly found hiding in a clothes dryer. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Brazoria County Jail where he remains in custody on a $500,000 bond.

The accusations against Atrian stem from an incident reported by the victim’s family Monday (Aug. 24) when the suspect allegedly assaulted a Pearland teen and then fled the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital and later released.

Meanwhile, Brazoria County Sheriff Department’s officials issued an appeal to the public for help finding Atrian, who was a registered sex offender. Court records show Atrian plead guilty to indecency with a child by sexual contact following an incident in August 2014. He’d been sentenced to eight years of probation and was ultimately turned over to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for deportation to his home country. It is not known when the suspect returned to the U.S.

Atrian is scheduled to appear before a Brazoria County Grand Jury in the coming weeks.
