News Release

League City Police Detectives have identified the deceased suspect in the previous event as 30 year-old Bryan Winslow Phillips.

Phillips led League City Police Officers on a pursuit after stealing a car at gunpoint at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 8). Phillips has also been identified as the suspect from a robbery that occurred at 2:45 a.m. this morning in League City.

The robbery took place in the 3000-block of West Marina Bay Drive at a local emergency room. Phillips is reported to have entered the business with a handgun and threaten staff as they ran from the building. Phillips then stole medications and left. When officers arrived, Phillips had already left the area. Officers remained on scene to search.

At approximately 8:35 a.m., League City Police Department received a report that an armed man, later identified as Phillips, stole a vehicle at gunpoint in the 2500 Block of South Shore Boulevard. He led police on a short pursuit, ending at the Walgreens in Kemah. Phillips shot multiple rounds once inside the Walgreens.

The Combined Agency Response Team (C.A.R.T.) responded and began negotiations immediately. Police had access to a live feed camera from Walgreens and were able to communicate and see Phillips during the standoff. Phillips was pronounced dead after a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
